Search for goods and services

Established search engines for goods and services either gather their data by grabbing data from web pages, or as a result of paid ads. EthicalWeb.ai is different because EthicalWeb.ai distributes data collection to communities and suppliers, and gets suppliers to take responsibility for their own data, updating their product data in real time as it changes. Consequently our data is more detailed and more accurate due to the real time updates. Spidered data derived from traditional web crawlers will always be older, and less accurate and returned with less precision.

There is no registration process when using EthicalWeb.ai powered apps. Consumers can therefore interact with potential suppliers anonymously, safeguarding their personal data. Because there is no registration process and there are no cookies, there is no attributable behavioral data to collect. No going to a website that will not answer your question until you give up your email address or cellphone number.

Our search mechanism works without advertising and insists on consumer anonymity. This allows consumers a mechanism to engage with potential suppliers in chat, exchange pictures etc, but without any requirement to give up any personal information. If the consumer is dissatisfied with the responses they have from the supplier, they can block them, and the supplier has no way of getting in touch again, unless the consumer consciously unblocks them. The responses they receive from the supplier will cause our trade secret algorithm to lower that supplier’s search ranking. This helps to ensure accuracy of results as it discourages suppliers from misrepresenting their goods and services in order to try to grab potential customers.

EthicalWeb.ai Platform does not rely on funding from advertisers. The suppliers are charged a flat monthly subscription by their local EthicalWeb.ai App owner in a similar economic model to that which was first used by Yellow Pages, EthicalWeb.ai then takes a 20% share of this subscription as a license fee for each supplier using the network.  In this way, the acquisition and on boarding of small businesses to the platform is decentralized to each EthicalWeb.ai license holder that is building their own local community app.

The underlying data describing the products and services is supplied directly by the suppliers that are on the platform. EthicalWeb.ai supplies open source app templates which communities can use to build their own apps (for both mobile and desktop). A community will have a licensee that owns the community app, and this licensee will be responsible for getting the business units in the community to sign up to the platform and to enter their product and service details (we offer tools to assist with this process). The community app owners then receive the monthly subscription payments directly (they do not go to EthicalWeb.ai) and they then pay 20% of these subscriptions to EthicalWeb.ai. This decentralizes the profits and allows the community a mechanism to disperse those profits as they see fit.

Search for information

In traditional search engines, all searches are stateless. You search for something and you get 20m results instantly and then it is forgotten about. EthicalWeb.ai’s patented search for information allows search users to contextualize groups of searches, so that search results are influenced by the context of the previous searches.

Currently it is easy for a business to influence the established search engine by promoting web pages with keywords in order to boost their search rankings. The EthicalWeb.ai search engine ranking algorithm does include keyword counting but not in isolation. Our content is only ever consumed inside apps (either mobile or desktop) and this means we are able to measure how long consumers read the content of a page in relation to the length of the page, which gives us a measurement of content consumption. Content consumption measurement allows us to identify pages that have been deliberately enhanced with unnecessary keywords and demote them in the search rankings.

The EthicalWeb.ai platform allows search users to block publishers or authors. This allows the wisdom of the users to be utilized in determining the accuracy of search prioritization and further helps to promote higher quality of content which is not solely focused on attracting clicks.

Our app based search will present search results in embedded browsers within the apps. However, tracking and identity cookies are disabled and the advertising banners will also be disabled as part of the apps term and conditions. In effect this is an inbuilt ad-blocker. This means that content providers have much less of an incentive to run banner ads in content presented within our apps and it by default promotes better quality publishers

There is an option within the search apps that will allow the search user to translate a viewed website so that keywords (in natural language processing (NLP) terms, would be known as named entities). Named entity recognition (NER) within a text will be given dynamically generated hypertext links that are salient and relevant to the originating search. For example, if someone is researching key battles in the US civil war the results page may mention “Gettysburg”. However, the original hypertext link (if there is one) may take you off to a page about “ten best things places to go in Gettysburg”. However, our search mechanism will generate a dynamic hypertext link that will be to page the most salient page about the civil war battle of Gettysburg, thus significantly improving search efficiency.
